Join us in raising funds to 10,000 provide students in rural communities with solar lamps for their studies after sunset.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

 

Lot of communities in Western region of Ghana with a decent student population students ranging from both primary and the junior high school level are at risk in their academic and reading performance for a variety of reasons including lack of light to study and complete homework in the evening after sunset, lack of money from parents to buy kerosene to fuel the lantern which emits harmful smoke and not healthy to study with coupled with the villages’ other economic and inadequate skilled teaching staff-base difficulties.

Light to Read project comes with the objective of helping 10000 students in villages in the Western region of Ghana and beyond who have no access to electricity.

The project will provide solar-powered LED lamp, a clean safe and efficient source of light to students to read and improve their education after school hours.

Currently, the project is rolling out in 6 selected villages in the Wassa East District in the Western Region. These communities include: Abosompim, Awiadaso, Kwame Yaw, Ewusikwaa, Dabinamewohen and Kojokoran.

This phase of the project is targeting 1000 students to receive a solar lamp each from the basic and high school levels.
